This weekend a small team of players headed to London UEL for the London Area Low Grade Development Event coached by Jay. For a couple of our players, it was their first time at a big competition so hats off to them, their determination and their courage.
It turned out to be an extremely long day in particular for our Coach, Jay who was there from the very first weigh in at 8.15am till the very last player who took to the mat after 6.30pm.
The results were excellent which showed great commitment from training to competition, and all medallists were handed their medals by the current number 1!!!
Results were:
Max B – Bronze
Levi – Bronze
Kareem – Bronze
Muawiya – Silver
Fearne – Silver.
Thank you to Jay for his coaching as well as to Sheena and Nigel.
This weekend MJC headed to Largs in Scotland for the Scottish Open alongside our friends Rush Judo. A long journey up, but with spirits high, our players faced a tough competition.

Chayse won 1st and lost his 2nd putting him in the repercharge. Was winning that one and then unfortunately lost in the last few seconds putting him out.
Zeb had what seemed like lots of fights and waiting around in between and took 7th place.
Kristian (Rush) pulled out due to injury with his ribs.
K-c earned herself a 5th place.
Coached by our very own Bobby today, he led Ruben to the top of the podium with a Gold and Freddie with Silver. Well done all!

This weekend we had the Micklefield Massive Team attend the Craig Fallon Cup in Walsall. There was great team spirit amongst Alfie, Bobby, Jonah and Jay as well as the MJC team of supporters. They all fought extremely hard but unfortunately, following 2 wins and beating silver medallists, they went out on points. They should all be very proud of themselves.
Fighting in the individual category at the same event was Chayse, who has 3 fights and 3 wins taking home a Gold.
We had Chayse, Stan and Jay competing in Venray. A very tough competition and very hot weekend. All fought exceptionally well. Jay took home a Gold, Stan a Bronze (after endless fights) and Chayse, although no medal this time, good mat time and experience.
We had the Bishop Stortford Danny King Team Event which brought together Aniah, Brooke, Isabella and Itsy to form a team. They gave it their all and fought really hard showing great team spirit and encouragement. No medal for them as a team but they totally deserved the medal for team spirit. Aniah also helped out the Pinewood team earning herself more mat time, more experience and a nice Bronze medal to go with it!
In the same comp, we also had a team of boys comprising of Chayse, Stan and Kristian (from Rush). The boys were definitely the lightest amongst all the teams but fought like warriers and earned themselves a lot of mat burns, blood on kits and bronze medals. Well done all!
Justine and Steve headed to High Wycombe to compete, with Steve not feeling 100% on the day but still refusing to back down. He still gave it the percentage that he could that day and brought home a silver. Excellent result.
Justine gave it her all and very respectively came away with a Bronze.
This weekend we had a strong group attend the London Open in the University of Eat London. On Saturday, the team comprised of Itsy and Timur in the Minor category, Phoebe and Isabella in the Pre Cadet category and Chayse and Emily in the Cadet category. Unfortunately Ash had to pull out due to injury.
We never shy away from changes and challenges at competitions and sometimes we arrive aware that numbers have dropped, weights have merged or maybe there’s even only one person to fight. This weekend, one of our players was given an opportunity to compete in her own category (Pre cadets) as well as the next category up (Cadets), with complete consultation from the player herself, the Parent and the Coach. Although there was still an element of confusion somewhere along the line from the competition officials…that player rose to the challenge and gave it her all! Well done and congratulations to Phoebe!!
Sundays team included Chayse, Jay and K-c. Chayse has doubled up from Cadets on Saturdays to the Juniors on Sunday and Jay done Juniors and Seniors on Sunday.

Thank you to our Coaches Paul P, Ian L and Paul F for coaching at the English open as well as laurie Rush and all the supporters in person and online.
In other areas closer to home, some of our adults headed to High Wycombe for the Chalfont Championships. It is great to see this group out at competitions and flying the flag high. For some of these guys, they’ve either made a return to judo following many years of not doing it, started only within a couple of years, or even come back after having a few weeks/months off due to other life committments, so the results below speak volumes about their enthusiasm and committment:
Rohel – GOLD, Ross – SILVER, Russel – SILVER, – Stuart – BRONZE
Thank you to Coach Ian R for being there with these guys and to all the supporters.
But why stop there? This time we head to Germany as Rico took GOLD at the VI German Open in Heidelberg in the Juniors categroy and even gave Seniors a go!

Last weekend we had Zeb, Chayse, Emily and Stan competing in the Cadet category. A tough day to say the least and although no medals for Chayse, Zeb and Emily, there was superb fighting from all. Stan came away with a silver medal following a tough and very close final. This weekend we had Jay, Emily, Zeb, Stan and Chayse on Saturday and then K-c on Sunday. After difficult fights, it was unfortunate to see Emily, Zeb and Chayse come away without medals. Their fighting was on form, as was their committment and mental attitude towards the competition, but it just wasn’t meant to be for them on the day.
Both Stan and Jay came away with a Bronze medal, so well done to both of them.

Both Itsy and Arthur took what they have been learning and their session times on the mat, and delivered some excellent judo. Kev raised over £600. Well done Kev!

Well done to all!
The International Masters in Breman, Germany took place over the weekend and saw Jay Parkin fighting on Sunday 24th March. Held in the Congress Centre in Breman, Jay weighed in on Saturday 23rd March, and on Sunday found out he would have 19 in his group. Jay had 3 fights and although did not medal this time, proved he is worthy to be there and MJC are proud of his journey so far.
Stan, seeded joint 8th was selected for the European Cup in Croatia. Fighting in the U50kgs and a tough group, Stan faced an Italian and a Brazilian, but it wasn’t his weekend, this time!
